Activities around Wainiha River House and Cottage

Northern Kauai is home to many varied activities, all in close proximity to the Wainiha River House and Cottage's excellent location; tucked away, private and relaxing, yet central to just about everything in the heart of Kauai's famous North Shore:

  • just 1 and 1/2 mile to one of Kauai's most beautiful beaches
  • 3 and 1/2 miles to Tunnels Beach, famous for its snorkeling
  • 6 miles to the trailhead of the world class trekking trail, the Kalalau Trail, the only land access into the spectacular and rugged Na Pali Coastline.

The North Shore of Kauai is famous for its almost continuous white sand beaches, its laid back, low-key lifestyle, and the incredible scenery - deep mountain valleys, tropical rainforests, rolling cattle pastures, ancient taro fields, expansive beaches and the rugged and remote Na Pali Coast.

There are seven one-lane bridges between Hanalei River and the end of the road - driving is slow, life is slow, and there is simply no large-scale tourist development of any kind.

The primary lodgings are vacation rental homes - there are no hotels. If you're searching for a taste of the old, peacefull Hawaii, you've found it - time spent here will reaquaint you with feeling truly relaxed and rejuvenated.

Activities available on the North Shore include surfing, boogie boarding, snorkeling, kayaking, horseback riding, fishing, windsurfing, world-class golf, hiking, birdwatching, swimming: Helicopter tours and fishing charters are available, and there are excellent spa facilities for a therapeutic massage or salon visit. The North Shore has it all.
